Metra UP-W trains delayed after pedestrian struck by freight train in Villa Park

A freight train hit someone Monday morning on the Metra’s Union Pacific West tracks in west suburban Villa Park, halting outbound trains.

The person was hit sometime after 4 a.m. near Ardmore Avenue, according to Metra spokesman Tom Miller.

Chicago-bound trains will operate but with reduced speeds at Villa Park, Miller said. Passengers should expect delays that could be “extensive.”

All Elburn-bound trains were halted at Villa Park as of 5 a.m., Miller said.
