Ex-Chicago police commander pleads guilty to stealing $363,000 from Social Security after mother’s death

According to his plea agreement, the former Chicago police commander had a joint bank account with his mother in which she received monthly electronic deposits from Social Security.

But, he failed to notify the government of his mother’s death, instead continuing to collect the deposits for more than 23 years.

Former Chicago police Cmdr. Kenneth Johnson pleaded guilty Tuesday to stealing more than $363,000 in Social Security benefits once intended for his mother.

  3. Should investigate the corners office for multiple fraud? SS# sent to Social Security and notified of death and payments stop. Normally an automatic stop. Unless you can rig the system? Right.

  5. Doesn’t the coroner automatically report a death to SS? Seems like there would be a system in place for this every time a death certificate is issued.

    Better than paying for my funeral and getting nothing.
    On my 100th birthday report me missing before the president sends me a Birthday card with the feds looking for proof im alive.
